Flor de Cana 4 Year Extra Dry Rum
The aging works for Flor de Cana 4 Year Extra Dry, along the same lines as Havana Club Anejo Blanco. There are not many white rum makers that age their product and then filter out the color. This adds cost and complexity. But the result is clear rum with more complexity and structure than it's unaged counterparts.
Review
Clear. Medium intensity floral, baking spice, and lemon square aromas. Opens slowly into a light to medium body. Smooth and neutral with good depth for a clear rum (the aging is probably helping here). Slight chalk and mint notes along with some tropical fruit. A nuanced oak structure tails with notes of almonds and sugarcane along with nicely balanced heat that lingers. About a one minute finish. Great for mixing, but it can also stand on it's own. A very approachable style. Tasted 12/13/2007.
