Balvenie Single Barrel 15 Year Scotch Whisky

Deep amber color. Fairly strong aromas of lime peel, candied almonds, and honey. Also, some cognac in the nose. Opens quickly (possibly because of the higher proof) into a medium to heavy body with caramel and light peat flavors. This continues with bourbon and raisin bread notes, and then a lean, citrus peel laced burn. Long 60-90 second finish. Though the alcohol level makes this a rather big whisky, it also possesses an airy, nimble layer where the flavors are. Could benefit from a bit of spring water depending on your taste. Tasted 1/19/2008.
