Red Wine Bittered Sling
- 5 oz Red Wine
- 1 tsp Rich Gum Syrup
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters (or Stoughton)
- 2 pinch Nutmeg
Add wine, syrup and bitters to an iced double Old Fashioned glass. Stir to incorporate. Dust with nutmeg and garnish with an orange peel and fruit in season.

I am using a Seaside Pinot Noir, a dry, funky, forest floor wine which requires the full 1 tsp of syrup. If you are using something more fruit forward, cut back to 3/4 tsp.
Several years ago I made some Stoughton bitters, so I broke them out here. Pretty good. But you can experiment with many kinds of bitters, aromatic, orange, you name it.
Break out your big ice if you have it. This drink looks lovely on a big cube or sphere.
