Rhum Agricole
Rhum Agricole is rum made with only fresh squeezed sugar cane juice, not the molasses by-product that comes from making sugar. Because production is so dependent on sugar cane, the distilleries are usually located near the sugarcane fields.
The French West Indies islands of Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Marie Galante are where you will find most agricole rums. There are clear agricoles that are commonly enjoyed in Ti'Punches. There are also aged agricoles of varying colors and flavors.
Each label of true agricole rum bears the Appelation d’Origine Contrôlée. This mark assures that only the highest standards are followed to produce the agricole rum.
