From The South American Gentleman's Companion by Charles H. Baker, Jr., this is his less famous food and drink compilation (The Gentleman's Companion being the more famous tome). It concerns his travels in South and Central America. I am finding it a great book with lots of good stories and some good drink recipes (though others are suspect).
This concoction is named after the capital city of British Guiana. It helps to make your own falernum here. I have found bottled versions wanting.
