Don Julio Anejo Tequila
Don Julio Anejo Tequila has a lot of fruit for an anejo, most of it tropical fruit. The sweetness in this spirit is honeyed or fruit-based. There is still plenty of oak structure to back the fruit up.
Sip this one neat. There is no other way.

Golden straw color. Intense aromas of grapefruit, pineapple, baking spice, and vanilla. Velvety at first followed by lemon, honeyed agave fruit, and candied nut flavors. The moderate, prickly heat then surfaces (briefly) along with brown spice and a solid oak structure that balances nicely with the initial fruit. Faint mineral notes in a long 4-5 minute finish. A big anejo with plenty of complexity and character. Tasted 10/6/2008.
